Taj Mahal Monument History

                          The Taj Mahal is a white marble monument which is located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. The construction of this marble monument is done by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Taj Mahal is regarded as finest example of Mughal architecture in which the style combines from Indian and Persian Architecture styles. The construction began around 1632 and was completed around 1653 which employed 20,000 of craftsmen and artisans.
                          Mumtaz's last wish to her husband Shah Jahan was to build a tomb in her memory such as the world had never seen before. white marbel, red sandstone are used to build this precious monument. In 1983 Taj Mahal became UNESCO the world heritage site. The principal main monument was completed in year 1648 and the surroundings, buildings, garden was finished five years later. The Tomb is the central focus of the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal took over 20 years to build, a large amount of time was spent to get the white marble and red sandstone that was used to construct this enormous monument. The brainy engineers that designed this beauty made provisions for an earthquake. It was believed that a strong earthquake could cause the minarets to fall down. With outward tilt, the minarets were to fall outwards and hence fall away from Taj Mahal.
                          Mumtaz Mahal was Shah Jahan's 13th wife and the couple is believed to had 14 children together. Mumtaz Mahal died during the delivery of their 14th child.
                          After the completion of Taj Mahal, Shah Jahan ordered his men to cut off the master of the architect who build the monument so that none can build such a precious monument in the world.
                          After Taj Mahal was completed, Shah Jahan was deposed by his son Aurangazeb and kept under house arrest nearby Agra Fort. Upon Shah Jahan's death, Aurangazeb buried him next to his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
